Mr. Miguel Zarate Ruiz, 70, of Seymour passed away Monday, September 16, 2019. He was born in Mexico City, Mexico to the late Guadalupe Ruiz Cortes and Martin Zarate Fernandez.

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ambrose church on Thursday September 19th at 11:30 a.m. with Father Dan Staublin officiating.

Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service and Thursday 2-8 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral Home.

He was a member of St. Ambrose church. On February 27, 2018 he married Maria Guadalupe Pena Rocha. Mr. Ruiz loved and cared for all his family and was very well respected, as he was a sociable person with good emotions and intentions.

People loved his qualities of always willing to help, listen and offer advice. Some of the things he really enjoyed include running, reading, listening to music, dancing, watching TV, being with his family at home, helping his wife bake cakes and breads, eating Mexican food, drinking coffee and talking to family members in Mexico. He was an educated man and full of life stories. We will always remember and love him.

Miguel Zarate Ruiz studied Business Administration and graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He exercised his education and worked in Mexico as a professor at the Autonomous University of Baja California offering his teachings and helping in the development of new professionals. Also, when he was not teaching he focused in the field of sales and consulting.

Miguel is survived by his wife Maria Guadalupe Pena Rocha; children, Ray Pena, Katia Elliott, Zambra Pena, Luis Pena, Martha Lopez, Alvaro Lopez, and Martha Rodriguez; and five grandchildren, Leonardo Pena, Leonardo Abel Pena, Samara Silva, Luna Pena, and Nura Pena.

Miguel was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Gilberto Zarate.
