A motorist who reportedly crossed the centerline near Crane Hill was involved in a wreck with two other vehicles shortly after, police report.

At 6:18 p.m. Saturday, the wreck occurred in the 3000 block of East U.S. 50 between Brownstown and Seymour.

According to a report from Jackson County Sheriff’s Department Officer Clint Burcham, it appears that a red Ford Fusion being driven by Timothy Magill, 18, of Bedford crossed the centerline, striking a Ford Flex being driven by Meghan Dunham, 30 of Brownstown. Then Magill’s vehicle slid across the westbound lane, causing a collision with a Hyundai Elantra being driven by Ashley Beavers, 29, of Seymour.

Magill had to be extricated from his vehicle by fire department personnel and was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, by StatFlight for treatment.

On Monday afternoon, police said a blood draw was taken of Magill at the hospital. The toxicology results are pending, and the wreck is still under investigation, police said.

Beavers was transported to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour by ambulance, and her husband, Justin Beavers, 35, of Seymour, who was a passenger in the Elantra, also was treated at the hospital.

Dunham later went to Schneck for treatment on her own.

Officers had been searching for a reported red passenger car that had crossed the centerline when the accident occurred, police said. While observing for the vehicle, 911 calls came in about the accident.

Burcham and Brownstown Police Department Officer Samuel Hughes were on scene shortly after the accident occurred.

Upon arrival, there was a red Fusion with damage sitting on the north-side shoulder of the roadway and facing northwest, a gold Elantra with damage in the westbound lane facing west and a silver Flex sitting west of the two vehicles, police said. The Flex had damage on the driver’s side.
