Janet Lucille McKinney, 82 of Palmyra formerly of Freetown, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019. She was born May 31, 1937, in Seymour, Indiana, the daughter of the late James Henry and Blanche Ora (Hutchings) Ferguson Sr.

She was married to Charles L. “Pony” McKinney Sr., and he preceded her in death in 1991.

Janet was a member of Kurtz Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School, and she also attended Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. She was a former member of the Red Hat Society and the Freetown Senior Citizens Club. She enjoyed sewing in her younger years and working word searches.

She is survived by her son, Charles (Joanie) McKinney Jr., daughters, Sharon (Leon) Peters, Karon Clifton and Peggy (Bo) Hurley; step-son, Rick Roberts, 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, brother, Bill (Pat) Ferguson, sisters, Linda Horton and Charlene Roberts; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one grandson, one brother and three sisters.

Services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Winklepleck & Brock Funeral Home in Brownstown. Friends and family may call at the funeral home after 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at McKinney Cemetery, Brown County, Indiana.
