Cancer patient to benefit from block party proceeds

Blondie’s Pizzeria and Pub is hosting a block party to benefit a woman fighting cervical cancer.

Briget’s Block Party is set for noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 11 in the 100 block of West Walnut Street in Brownstown.

Starting at noon, food will be available for purchase from OnTarget BBQ. That will include pulled pork sandwiches and tenderloins, and people can purchase just a sandwich or buy a dinner.

Beer also will be available for purchase starting at noon, while music will start at 1 p.m. with Lacefield and James, followed by Justyn Underwood at 2:45 p.m. and Lilly Meister at 4:30 p.m.

All of the profits from food and beer and donations will be given to Briget Anderson, who has been unable to work for months due to her illness.

It’s free to listen to the music, but upon entry, attendees will be asked if they would like to make a donation. For every $5 donated, people will receive one raffle ticket to use on a chance to win their prize of choice.
