NEW ALBANY

Verna Preuss Droege, 101, of New Albany, Indiana passed away at her daughter’s home. She was the former Verna Preuss, born in LaGrange, Illinois and raised in Seymour, Indiana.

Verna was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was involved with Esther’s Circle. She attended Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois.

She loved quilting, sewing, reading and loved working crossword puzzles and other word games. Preceded in death by: husband – Wilfred B. Droege; parents – Frederick and Susanna (Lambertus) Preuss; brothers – William, Paul and James; sisters; Elta Lamphier, Norma Kieser.

Survivors: daughters – Renata Lewis (David) – Charlestown, Indiana, Carolyn Mayfield (Edward) – Corydon, Indiana and Phyllis Ellis (Del) – Green Valley, Arizona, brother – Carl Preuss; sisters – Elvira Preuss, Ruth Bickenheuser; grandchildren – Amelia Garber, Joshua Garber, Adrienne Hester (Jeff), Naomi Leeman (Brad), Jonathan Ellis and Jacob Ellis; two great grandchildren – Lewis Hester, Josephine Leeman.

Visitation: 9 – 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, New Albany, Indiana. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at the Church and graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Expressions: Lutheran Hour Ministries or LCMS World Relief. Arrangements are being held by the Market Street Chapel of Naville and Seabrook Funeral Homes.
