Braves edge Warriors

SCOTTSBURG

In a back-and-forth Mid-Southern Conference affair, Brownstown Central came out on top.

The Braves (9-4, 2-2 MSC) pounded 14 hits in a 16-15 win over Scottsburg Friday.

The teams tied at three runs after one inning before the Warriors took a 6-5 at the conlcusion of two. After both teams scored one run in the third, the Braves added two in the fourth to go up 8-7.

The Warriors tied the game in the fifth inning at 10 runs before the Braves scored five runs in the sixth. After the Braves added a run in the seventh, the Warriors almost made the comeback by putting up five runs with its last at-bats.

The Braves gave up 12 hits between three pitchers, and had four errors to the Warriors’ nine. Eight of the Warriors’ runs were earned.

Seth Borden was credited as the winning pitcher, working 1.2 innings.

Matthew Garland led the Braves with three hits while Isaiah Wineinger, Jake Pauley and Clay Chastain each recorded two.

The Braves will travel to Moore Traditional (Louisville) today.
