The Kentucky Department of Labor fined Ford Motor Company $37,800 for a Seymour worker’s death last year.

The agency issued seven serious violations, the most severe penalty, against Ford for an incident that led to the death of Ivan M. Bridgewater III on Dec. 9, 2017.

The violations stem from an incident at the Ford Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville that led to the death of the 41-year-old man, who was an electrician at the plant and was attempting to repair a loading dock lock.

A semitrailer crushed Bridgewater when it backed into him and pinned him against the dock, according to citation records.

Kentucky Department of Labor investigators found the area was not properly lit, according to its report on the violations.

Bridgewater was described as someone who enjoyed the ocean, traveling, concerts and gaming in his obituary published in The Tribune.

Bridgewater left behind his wife, Megan, and son, Ivan IV.

The Louisville Metro Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
