The annual Josh Teegarden Memorial 5K Run/Walk took place June 30 at Freetown Church of Christ.
The event was conducted in memory of Josh Teegarden, who was tragically killed in the mission field in the summer of 2004 in Kentucky.
The 23-year-old Freetown resident was a member of a mission group from Freetown Church of Christ helping to clear trees at Christ’s Outreach for the Blind Camp when he was struck in the head by a falling tree.
The proceeds from this race will benefit a scholarship at Teegarden’s alma mater, Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee, to help allow students to train in missions and spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
