Sectional draws announced for 2018

Sectional draws for the 43rd annual girls basketball state tournament were announced Sunday.

Games will commence Jan. 30, with sectional championship games scheduled for Feb. 3.

Class 4A

Seymour aims to win Sectional 15 on its home court this postseason.

The Owls will host Jeffersonville on Jan. 30 to open sectional play. The winner will play Floyd Central, which got a bye, on Feb. 2 in the semifinals.

North Harrison and Bedford North Lawrence will play in the early game Jan. 31 followed by a matchup between Jennings County and New Albany in first-round action.

The winners of the Jan. 31 matchups will face off in the semis following the winner of Seymour/Jeff versus Floyd Central.

Class 3A 

Brownstown Central will open Sectional 30 (Salem) play against Charlestown on Jan. 30.

Should the Braves beat the Pirates, they will play Salem in the semifinals Feb. 2.

In the upper bracket, Corydon Central faces Silver Creek in first-round action. The winner faces Scottsburg in the semis.

BCHS will play in the second game in both the first-round and semis, should they advance.

Class A

Three county schools will take to the court in Sectional 61 at West Washington.

First round games will be played Jan. 30 and semifinals contests will go on Feb. 2.

Crothersville, the reigning sectional champions, will open against Shawe Memorial. Edinburgh and Medora will follow in first-round action.

Trinity Lutheran and West Washington both received byes. Trinity will play the winner of Edinburgh/Medora in the semis, in game four, while West Washington awaits the victor of Crothersville/Shawe for Game 3.
