Cougars top Mohawks, Lang earns 100th win

WALDRON

Trinity Lutheran used a second-half surge to defeat Waldron 49-37 on Tuesday.

Trinity (16-3) trailed Waldron 17-13 at halftime before outscoring the Mohawks 19-8 in the third quarter and 16-12 in the final eight minutes of play.

Abby Hackman led the Cougars with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Piper Acton scored 13. Sydney Jaynes also posted nine points and 10 rebounds for the Cougars.

The victory marked the 100th for Cougars varsity coach Mike Lang. Lang holds a record of 100-56 and is in his seventh year at school.

Trinity will host New Washington on Thursday.

Hornets fall to Bulldogs

ORLEANS

Medora fell behind by 25 points in the first quarter and couldn’t mount a comeback in a 56-37 loss at Orleans on Monday.

The Hornets (2-12) scored just two points in the first quarter and trailed 43-12 at half.

In the final quarter, the Hornets limited the Bulldogs to just one point.

Lillie Hatfield led Medora with 15 points, and Kailen Flynn scored 14.

The Hornets will travel to Bloomington Lighthouse on Friday.
