Police capture man wanted for auto theft, escape

A Jefferson County man wanted for auto theft and escape was captured Thursday morning in Scott County.

According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Riley James Nasby, 20, had been wanted in Jackson and Jefferson counties for auto theft, resisting law enforcement and escape.

Nasby was transported to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown after his arrest.

He was booked in at 12:23 p.m. Thursday and faces initial charges of escape from lawful detention, auto theft, resisting law enforcement, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle causing substantial risk to another person and possession of stolen property.

He was being held without bond.

Local police officers are looking for a man wanted for auto theft and escape.

According to a news release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Riley James Nasby, 20, is wanted in Jackson and Jefferson counties for auto theft, resisting law enforcement and escape.

He was last seen in southern Vernon Township in Jackson County wearing a black hoodie, dark-colored shorts and no shoes, police said.

Nasby is white, has blue eyes and blonde hair, is 5-foot-11 and weighs 160 pounds.
