Mr. Ronald Eugene Hunter, 72, of North Vernon, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017, at home, with his family by his side.

He was born on March 28, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Woodford and Leta (Cullip) Hunter. He married Brenda Sue Hunter, in Long Beach, California on October 18, 1969.

Ron Served 23 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a senior chief in 1987. He retired from Stucker Fork Water Utility in 2007. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 and a member of the American Legion Post 89, both of Seymour.

He was a member of Central Christian Church and a longtime Free Mason.

Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Brenda Hunter; children, Rebecca (Robin) RuBright and Michael (Amber) Hunter; grandchildren, Megan, Joshua, Rachael and Jaymon; great grandchildren, Karlee and Benton; sisters, Helen Stamper and Janet (Dutch) Stamper. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Jack Stamper and Louis Drake; sister-in-law, Beverly Drake.

Funeral service will be conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service at Central Christian Church (1131 West Second Street) on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. William Everhart, officiating.

Family and friends may gather at Voss & Sons Funeral Chapel (316 N. Chestnut St.) on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the Church on Wednesday after 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow on Wednesday at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Madison, Indiana, where full military honors will be conducted.

The family asks that memorials be written to The American Cancer Society in care of Voss & Sons Funeral Service.
