SPRAYTOWN
Lyle Edward Ault, 78, of Spraytown died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, in the intensive care unit at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour with his loving family by his side.
Born Jan. 28, 1939, in Spraytown, he was the son of Kenneth and Claribel Noble Ault, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 13, 1957, he married Marilyn Rhea Anderson, who survives.
Lyle loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed watching sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were playing. He loved traveling, going to races and going to breakfast and to “the shack” with his friends.
He was a first-class member of Pershing Township Volunteer Fire Department for 56 years. He was a member of Freetown Church of Christ and American Legion Post 89 in Seymour.
Lyle lived his entire life in Jackson County and built the family home in Spraytown with his wife. While growing up, he worked on the family farm with his Grandpa Ault and did construction work with his uncle, Ernie Ault. He worked at Cummins Inc. in Columbus for 22 years, and then worked for several construction companies, including Skaggs Builders.
Other survivors include his children, Shelly (Kirk) Doran, Deirdre (Alan) Axsom and Brian (Tracy) Ault; grandchildren, Colin and Shea Doran, Jason, John and Daphane Gray, Jake and Amanda Axsom, Baylee Bowman, Ben Ault and Chandler Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Joseph Gray, Darrien Wolf, Serenity Gray and Koltyn Hunter; a sister, Marilyn McKinney; and a brother, Roger Weddell.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Briana Ault.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Freetown Church of Christ with Barry DeWitt officiating. Burial will be at Spraytown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to Freetown Church of Christ or Pershing Township Volunteer Fire Department.
