Lawrence Temple Jr., 90, passed away peacefully during the afternoon hours of Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville.

Born Jan. 8, 1926, in Borden, he was son of Lawrence E. Temple Sr. and Maude O. Temple, both of whom preceded him in death.

Lawrence honorably served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, earning the rank of chief boatswain mate. He served in all three theaters of World War II where he lost his brother, Wallace Temple. He also served in Korea and Vietnam. His brother, Raymond Temple, was a POW during World War II. Lawrence worked as a barber for more than 30 years in Clarksville and was a member of Grace Community Church in Sellersburg. He served his country with honor and also lived his life with honor and integrity.

Survivors include a son, Ric Temple, Seymour; daughters Dawn Temple (Charlie) Mills and Barbara Gardner, all of Jeffersonville; a brother, Robert Temple, Starlight; a sister, Norma Goodrich, Borden; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rennah C. Temple; brothers, Wallace Homer, Raymond Temple, Wayne Temple, Harold Temple and Bill Temple; sisters, Bertha Stone, Edith Powell, and Doris Temple; and his son-in-law, Homer Gardner.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with interment at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery located in Starlight.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local Veterans of Foreign Wars or American Legion post.
