Danny L. Singleton, 70, of Columbus died at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at his home.

Born on Nov. 12, 1944, in Jackson County, he was the son of Alex and Ruby Lewallen Singleton. He married Carolyn Miller Scrogham on Oct. 15, 1987.

Mr. Singleton worked in management at Cummins Engine Co. retiring in 1995 after 33 years of service.

A 32nd degree Mason, he was a member of Hayden Masonic Lodge, the Murat Shrine and the Bartholomew County Shrine Club. He was one of the creators of Friends of Santa. He loved bluegrass music and was an avid gun collector and fisherman. He was always working with his hands and while doing so, he built a mandolin and restored a 1951 Ford pickup.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years; children, Paul Keith Singleton (Tammy Vassar) of Crothersville, Paula Marie (Todd) McCall of Brookings, South Dakota, Roselyn M. (Eric) Long of Columbus, and Janet Whittington (Eddie Feldman) of Greensburg; grandchildren, Allison Singleton, Alexis and Morgan McCall, Jeremy (Joanna) Climer, Clayton and Connor Long, Michelle Whittington and Tony Whittington Jr.; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Jolee) Singleton of New Jersey; sisters, Brenda Singleton (Wayne Wigginton) of Crothersville, Karen Prince of Crothersville, and Debbie (Walter) Howington of Corbin, Kentucky; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Colyer of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Singleton was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Colyer.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St. in Columbus with Jerry Lucas officiating.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Hawcreek Cemetery.
