The Seymour girls basketball team started with a 21-point first quarter and didn’t look back as they downed Floyd Central 47-32 on Tuesday.

With the win, the Owls are now 1-0 in Hoosier Hills Conference play.

In the first quarter, the Owls were able to open up a 21-10 lead. Morgan Ritz helped the Owls by knocking down three three-point baskets.

Both teams scored seven points in the second quarter, and the Owls outscored the Highlanders 19-14 in the second half.

Kayla Griffin and Ritz led the Owls (3-0, 1-0) with 10 points each. Griffin also recorded the most rebounds for the Owls through snagging seven boards.

On Friday, the Owls host Rushville.

Trinity Lutheran solidly defeats South Decatur in season-opener

GREENSBURG

The Trinity Lutheran boys basketball took their season-opener at South Decatur 90-44 on Tuesday.

Senior Cougars guard Jacob Christopher led his squad with 19 points.

The Cougars’ Daniel Horton got a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds on the night.

Four Cougars finished in double digit scoring in Greensburg.

On Tuesday, the Cougars will host Hauser in their home-opener.
