Accomplishments this past week

Nolting: Broke the 100-meter hurdles school record of 16.91 seconds by clocking 16.8 on April 21.

Grout: Broke the standing pole vault record of 8-6 by clearing 8-10 on April 21.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

Nolting: “I was able to three-step more hurdles than usual, which helped me to lower my time.”

Grout: “I focused on my speed leading up to the pit and tried to stay calm.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

Nolting: “I try to get plenty of rest before my meet.”

Grout: “No, I like to stay calm and talk to my friends to keep my mind off of vaulting or running. I try to avoid getting nervous.”

Favorite drink?

Nolting: Red cream soda

Grout: Strawberry lemonade

Favorite food?

Nolting: Pizza

Grout: Pasta

Favorite band, artist or music group?

Nolting: Taylor Swift

Grout: Parachute

Favorite book?

Nolting: “A Bend in the Road”

Nolting: Statistics

Nolting: “My parents.”

Grout: “If I had to choose one person that is my role model, it would have to be Mya Findley. She may be younger than me, but her passion for sports, God and helping others inspires me.”

Best advice?

Nolting: “Talent is God-given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.” — John Wooden

Grout: “Believe in yourself: it’s the first step in accomplishing anything.”

Athletics goals?

Nolting: “Win sectional and qualify for regional.”

Grout: “I hope to clear 9-6 by the time I graduate high school, and being on varsity in cross-country my senior year.”

Grider helped the Braves win two of three games by going 7 for 11 at the plate with a double, a home run and five RBIs.

How were you able to perform to your fullest potential this past week?

“The work we put in each day in the batting cage really helped me to perform well.”
