Women prominent in 1924 election
Women voters of Jackson County will have a more prominent part in the election next Tuesday than in any previous election, as workers at the various precincts. It is stated that in several of the twelve townships provision has been made for a considerable number of women to act as assistant clerks, and in a few instances women have been named on the regular precinct election boards.
Consideration was given to having assistant clerks at all precincts of the county, but in some instances there were objections, based largely on the item of expense.

Time to say ‘Thanks’
Local residents with a desire to help fund construction of America’s first national World War II memorial have several outlets to do so.
“Management at every store was encouraged to come up with a plan to raise money and this is what we decided to do here in Seymour,” said Boyd Bennett, a co-manager at Seymour’s Wal-Mart Supercenter.
Bennett was referring to a display at the store of photographs of local Word War II veterans and a U.S. Army jeep owned by local car buff Albert Skaggs.
The display also includes and artist’s rendition of the planned memorial, which will be located in Washington, D.C.
