SEYMOUR
Luella M. Koop, age 100, of Seymour, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Koop was baptized in faith on August 17, 1924, by Pastor E. H. Eggers, and she was confirmed in Christ on April 10, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour. Mrs. Koop graduated from Shields High School in 1942, and she was a homemaker, who was devoted to her faith and family.
In 1959, Luella and her husband, Willard, became charter members of Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, and she also belonged to the Ladies Aid at the church.
Luella spent countless hours volunteering at church functions, including working with the Braille group at Immanuel Lutheran Church, and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief with a group from Redeemer Lutheran Church. In addition to making quilts, Luella also made baby and lap blankets and donated them to various organizations, including the Pregnancy Care Center and Lutheran Community Home.
Born on August 13, 1924, in Seymour, Luella was the daughter of Ben and Mary (Holtman) Eggersman, both of whom preceded her in death. On April 16, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour, she married Willard E. Koop, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2000.
Survivors include two daughters: Barbara (Kevin) Burbrink of Seymour, and Linda Brackemyre of Seymour; three granddaughters: Jennifer (Brian) Liggett, Jodi (Mark) Voyles, and Traci (Daniel) Fronczak; one great-grandchild, Paxton Liggett; and four step-great-grandchildren: Alex Lamaster, Sam Hayes, Sarah Hayes, and Shelby Hayes.
Luella was also preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Eggersman; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Erwin and Marietta (Koop) Surenkamp.
Funeral services for Luella M. Koop will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, with Pastor Jeffrey Stuckwisch and Pastor Bradley Akey officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Interment will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Seymour.
Memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church, Lutheran World Relief, Lutheran Community Home, or Donor’s choice.
