Traffic stop nets drug arrest

On Friday, Oct. 25, Jackson County Officer Alan Jones was on routine patrol in Brownstown.

While making a turn at Main and Commerce streets in Brownstown, a black Chevrolet pick-up truck failed to yield to a red traffic light and almost struck Jones’s vehicle, according to a news release from Jackson County Sheriff Rick Meyer.

Jones was able to turn his vehicle around and make a traffic stop on the pickup truck in the 900 block of West Commerce Street.

The driver was identified as Nathan Fields, 36, of Bedford.

Brownstown K9 Officer Ryan Cherry and his K9 Honey arrived to assist.

Cherry had Honey do a free air sweep of the pickup truck, Honey had a positive alert on the vehicle for narcotics, Meyer said.

Located inside the vehicle was two grams of methamphetamine, 38 grams of mushrooms, 472 grams of marijuana and several different types of pills.

Fields was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, violation legend drug,  four chargses of possession of controlled substance, dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana and criminal recklessness with a vehicle.

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
