The October meeting of Delta Kappa Gamma Society for women educators was recently held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Seymour with 25 present.

President Janice Brock gave the welcome and Olga Otte gave the invocation. The tables were decorated in a Halloween theme with ghosts, jack-o0lanterns and candy.

Following the meal served by the church’s board of parish fellowship, Brock thanked the ladies serving, and the committee of Otte, Karen Brigdon, Linda Hume and Raeann Wintin. The treasurer’s report was given by Karen Ault, and she announced membership is 43 active and 11 reserve.

Membership booklets were distributed and the budget approved. Connie Gerth gave the secretary’s report. Chairwomen of the following committees are needed for rules, international projects/world fellowship, personal growth/professional affairs, founders’ day, historian, nominations, communications and legislation. Terrye Davidson volunteered for the rules committee.

Nancy Durham, the state liaison spoke to the group, telling the members about the emergency fund of $500 available to members experiencing a disaster. She also reminded the group of the grants available for classroom projects, travel, and educational degrees. Information is available on the state and international websites.

Glad you Came gifts, provided by Mary Garrison, were won by Terrye Davidson, Karen Brigdon and Mindy Clay.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, Feb. 18, at First Presbyterian Church and will be a pitch-in meal. The committee is Mary Jane Lasater, Kathy Haper, Becky Miller and Karen Robertson and will be a “show & tell” your hobby.

Clay briefly talked about the Seymour Museum Center that the group would be touring following adjournment by Brock.
