Seymour Main Street plans Downtown Trick or Treat

Get ready for a spooktacular time from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, as Seymour Main Street hosts its annual Downtown Trick or Treat event.

This is a perfect opportunity for families to stroll through downtown Seymour as participating businesses will be handing out candy.

A map of participating businesses will be available closer to the event date. Seymour Police officers will be stationed at key intersections to ensure safety, and guests are encouraged to use designated pedestrian crosswalks when crossing streets. Stay updated by following Seymour Main Street on Facebook, where event details will be regularly posted.

At 6 p.m., the 57th annual Seymour Evening Lions Halloween Costume Parade kicks off, featuring eerie tunes from the Seymour High School Band. The parade will start at the Seymour Post Office and end at Smalltown Plaza (Old Legion), so come to the post office after the downtown Trick or Treat and show off your costume to the crowd by walking in the parade to the judging of the best costumes.

The age groups are two and under; three and four; five and six; seven to nine; 10 to 13; 14 to 20; and 21 and older. Prizes will be awarded to each category winner. The categories are best pet costume, best group of three and best band member.

Businesses interested in participating in the Downtown Trick-or-Treat event may contact Jaylyn Stam at [email protected] to register. There is no registration fee, but participants are encouraged to bring candy or kid-friendly items to hand out during the event.
