A 25-year-old North Carolina man was arrested Friday by Seymour police investigating a report from a mother that her daughter had been sexually assaulted.
Mark A. Ballinas of Clayton faces a Level 3 felony charge of rape and a Level 5 felony charge of sexual misconduct with a minor, according to a new release from Seymour Lt. C.J. Foster.
Foster said Seymour patrol officers received the report from the mother on Thursday, Oct. 17. Ballinas was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 1:19 p.m. Friday. He was being held Monday pending the outcome of his initial hearing in Jackson Circuit Court.
