Mrs. Madeliene Sage (Wise) Moody of Seymour, Indiana passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 2:12 a.m. She was 101 years old. Born May 26, 1923, in Jackson County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Johnson) Wise. On October 30, 1941, she married Chalmer F. Sage who preceded her in death in 1971. On September 15, 1972, she married Lester C. Moody, and he preceded her in death on November 20, 1991.

Madeliene attended Crothersville High School until her senior year when she attended Paris Crossing High School, graduating in 1941. She was employed at the US Shoe Corporation in Crothersville for 26 years. Following her job at the shoe factory, Madeliene worked alongside her husband, Lester, at their Moody’s Appliance Store in Seymour, Indiana. She also worked for Parker’s Jewelry Store and Stoner’s Dress Shop, both of Seymour. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority. Madeliene was well known and loved in her community, and people often shared stories of her beautiful and welcoming smile.

She is survived by her children, Judith L. Vance, Thomas W. (Louise) Sage, Linda (Tom) Lockmund, Jerry (Margie) Moody, and Debra (Keith Dyer) Barrett; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 4 great, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and both husbands; brothers, Bill Wise, and Harlan Wise; sisters, Irene Magee, Minnie Bernard, Mary Garriott and Patty Hall; granddaughter, Valerie Ann Vance; and great, great grandson, Maxwell Moody.

A memorial funeral service will be held at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour on October 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Andrew Currao will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Crothersville Cemetery.
