Two Seymour residents face felony charges related to the theft of copper and tools earlier this month from the country’s only ironing board maker on the city’s northside.

Colin Blane Erwin, 28, was arrested Friday on a Level 5 felony charge of burglary and two Level 6 felony charges of theft and Michale C. Miller, 45, was arrested Monday on the same charges, according to a news release from Lt. C.J. Foster with Seymour Police Department.

Both Erwin and Miller were taken to the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown after their arrests.

Foster said the investigation that led to the arrest of the two started when patrol officers and investigators responded to Seymour Home Products at 855 N. Chestnut St. on Oct. 4 in reference to the theft of a large amount of copper wire, rolls of copper and battery-powered tools. The value of the copper and tolls was estimated at more than $9,000, police said.

Foster said evidence was collected at the scene and some of the stolen property was recovered during the investigation, which is on-going. Police arrested the pair after following up on leads

A Level 5 felony carries a potential prison term of one to six years and a $10,000 fine. A Level 6 felony is punishable by six months to two and a half years in jail.
