Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves competed in the Carmel Tournament on Saturday, winning three of four games, improving to 28-3 on the season. The team defeated Tri-West, Plainfield, and Jennings County to finish in second place after losing to Northwood.

Tri-West was the number one ranked team in Class 3A according to the IHSVCA, with Brownstown defeating the Bruins, 25-16, and 26-24. The team defeated Plainfield, 25-11, and 25-14. They defeated Jennings County in two sets, 25-22, and 25-20.

Northwood won the opening set 25-18, before Brownstown won the second set 25-19. Northwood took the third set, winning 15-9.

Brownstown will now prepare for the postseason, which they will compete on Saturday at 11 a.m. The entire sectional is at Brownstown Central High School.

Trinity Lutheran

The Lady Cougars competed in the Columbus East Invitational on Saturday. The team finished in third place, defeating Danville, Bloomington North, and Jasper, but lost to Avon to end their day.

Trinity defeated Bloomington North in two sets, 25-17, and 25-11. The team defeated Danville, 25-18, and 25-11. The win over Jasper was a close first set as the Cougars won 26-24, before winning the second set 25-17.

The girls fell to Class 4A #7 Avon, 25-21, and 25-19.

Sectional Football Pairings

Pairings for the 2024-25 IHSAA football playoffs were announced on Sunday. In Class 2A Brownstown Central will travel to Switzerland County to open their postseason on Oct. 25th at 7 p.m.

A win would put the Braves up against the winner of Eastern and Paoli in the sectional semifinal.

Seymour drew the back-to-back Class 4A State Champion and new 5A program East Central, who moved up due to the IHSAA Success Factor. The game will take place on Nov. 1st at 7 p.m.

Bowling breaks school record for Kills at Trinity

Senior Carson Bowling put her name at the top of the history books at Trinity Lutheran on Saturday, breaking the school record for kills in the Columbus East Invitational.

The senior now has 1,321 career kills as Trinity will prepare for the postseason, hosting Oldenburg Academy tomorrow at 6 p.m.

Regional Individual Tennis Pairings

Brownstown Central’s Pierson Wheeler and Lane Steward compete on Saturday in Fishers in the IHSAA Individual Boys’ Tennis Tournament, The duo will face off with Max Baltz and Ted Manion of North Central High School.

The match begins at 10 a.m. If the team can pull out a victory, they’ll play in the regional championship at 2 p.m.
