SEYMOUR

Martin Edwin Findley, 76, entered into his heavenly home October 5, 2024 at 10:20 p.m. surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 22, 1948, to the late Guy and Charmaine Findley.

Martin graduated from Seymour High School, then went on to study at Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute. From there, he transferred to Asbury University for a time. He married Brenda Jean Sterling on May 29, 1971. They enjoyed 44 years together and raised three daughters.

He began his career at Cummins Engine Company and retired after over 30 years on the job. He loved what he did and made many friends. Martin was a pillar of wisdom and strength for his family. He was his daughters’ hero! He was a man of great faith and integrity and he always led by example. He had a smile that would light up the room, and his laughter was infectious. He had a compassionate nature and he genuinely cared about the well being of others. He was always willing to lend a helping hand in any way he could, even to a perfect stranger. Over the years, he helped many a stranded driver and never failed to share the love of Jesus.

He loved all things pertaining to airplanes, classic cars, hot rods, and tractors. Being outdoors was another favorite pastime, from a walk around the block with his dog Tucker, to bike riding with the grandkids or working in the yard. He was an avid reader of books on hobbies and health but loved studying the Word of God. He loved working on engines of all kinds. He could fix anything and everything. He had an innovative mind and would usually reinvent things to make them work better to his liking.

Most of all, he loved his family. He had a way of letting each one know they were special. Times spent together were always filled with laughter, love and fun.

Martin is survived by his daughters, Mica (Michael) Ellis and Shanna (Ramiah) Cavanaugh; seven grandchildren, Caitlyn (Felipe) Sardinha, Conner (Conner) Ellis, Bryson Ellis, Abigail Cavanaugh, Gracelyn Cavanaugh, Luke Cavanaugh, and Solomon Cavanaugh; four great grandchildren, Leonardo Sardinha, Laura Sardinha, Indy Ellis, and Stevie Ellis; brothers, Lew (Sheila) Findley, Pat (Diane) Findley, and Tom Findley; and several nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Findley; his parents, listed above; one daughter, Lora Janae; and a sister, Carole A. Findley.
