Gloria Hohenstreiter Massey, 92, of Spartanburg, passed away early Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Gloria was born October 8, 1931, in Seymour, IN, a daughter of the late John William Carl and Gladys Jane Bowman Hohenstreiter. She was married to the late Herman Koontz Massey. Along with her husband and parents, Gloria was also predeceased by a son, James Arthur “Jimmie” Fleetwood, and 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Gloria’s deep love for her family was surpassed only by her love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Gloria’s love of children led her to a career of 25 years as owner and director of the Red Wagon Play School.

Surviving is her daughter, Nicolee Jane Fleetwood Coggins (Dennis) of Irmo, SC; her sons, Brian Joseph Fleetwood (Diane) of Bostic, NC and Bradley Jay Fleetwood (Anna) of Campobello, SC; her daughter-in-law, Caroline Pryor Fleetwood of Campobello, SC; her 8 grandchildren: her 14 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Greta Hansen.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel. A private burial for the family members will be held at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens.
