Log Cabin Day this Saturday

Get ready to enjoy the history and travel back in time to Indiana’s pioneer days at the annual Log Cabin Day, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge.

This free event is sponsored by the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society.

Family friendly activities will take place at the Myers Family Cabin and Barn honoring the people who made this property a home. Learn all about pioneer and farm life in the county back in the 1880’s.

At the Refuge and Cabin enjoy a day of live old-time music by Allie Jean & Friends, historic storytelling, a Myers Cabin tour, pioneer demonstrations, blacksmithing, Chore-Corral where kids try chores from yesteryear, shuttle rides to the Refuge’s closed area, and a free homecooked ham and bean lunch over an open fire with homemade cornbread.

Log Cabin Day kicks-off National Wildlife Refuge Week, Oct. 13-19, when visitors can explore the Refuge’s hiking trails, lakes, birding, wildlife and blooming fall colors, along with the Refuge Nature Center and Nature Bookstore/Gift Shop.
