Hornets honor Underwood on senior night; Braves win Pacer Invitational on Saturday in Weekend Sports Roundup for Oct. 7th

Medora

It was an exciting night for the Hornets on Friday, who swept Dugger Union in three sets, 25-15, 25-23, and 25-23. Senior Brelee Underwood was honored for her hard work and dedication to the Medora volleyball program before the game started.

Underwood led the team in kills with 13, while Lilian Hatchett led the Hornets in aces with 4. Josie Bowers racked up 19 assists throughout the game.

Medora travels to Tabernacle Christian for a match tonight at 6 p.m. Wrapping up their regular season before beginning the postseason next week.

Brownstown Central

The Braves and Lady Braves competed in the Pacer Invitational on Saturday. Brownstown won the boys’ meet with a team score of 20, while the girls’ finished in third with a score of 53.

Shane Ratliff (1st), Chance Ratliff (2nd), and Eli Crockett (3rd) led the team to a meet win. Logan Chavarria ended in 8th, while Damien Owens finished 12th for the team. Chase Blann (22nd), and Kaden Lingenfelter (27th)

Kaylee Steward won the race for the Lady Braves with a time of 22:05. 67. Trinity Cody followed in 7th place with a 23:36.90, while Lana Wisler ended in 10th, clocking a 24:14.55.

Chelsie Combs finished 14th with a time of 24:46.95. Claire Schepman ended in 21st with a time of 26:03.44 and Jessica Pitts crossed in 26th.

Brownstown will compete in the MSC meet this Saturday morning.

Crothersville

The Tigers traveled to Terre Haute over the weekend to compete in the Nike XC Town Twilight Valley Race at the Lavern Gibson Championship Cross-Country Course.

Crothersville finished 17th in the blue race as a team, compiling a score of 553. Koby Davis finished his race in 36th place to lead the team with a time of 17:37.67. Dirk Crater ended in 51st with a 17:49.32, while Beau Napier crossed the line in 145th.

Kolton Blevins ended in 192nd, Brayden Heath in 252nd, and Kaleb Moeller in 275th.

Carmel won the meet as a team and the individual winner was Zander Ritenour of Lakewood Park Christian Schools in Auburn, Indiana.

Crothersville will compete in the Southern Athletic Conference meet this Saturday at Borden. The boys will race at 10:30 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran

The Lady Cougars wrapped up their regular season with a tie against Indianapolis Lutheran on Thursday evening, ending the night with a 2-2.

Anyah Carrigan and Zoe Croquart scored the goals for the team. Croquart picked up the assist on Carrigan’s score. The tie puts Trinity at 5-10-2 to end the regular season. The team will face Shawe Memorial on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The sectional will take place at Providence High School.

Trinity Lutheran and Crothersville (Sectional 60 at Trinity Lutheran)

Trinity Lutheran will host their own sectional in 2024, beginning the postseason with Oldenburg

Trinity Lutheran vs. Oldenburg Academy, Tuesday, Oct. 15th at 6 p.m. The winning team will face Hauser on Saturday morning in sectional semifinal at 11 a.m. The championship will take place that evening

Crothersville faces Rising Sun on Thursday, Oct. 17th at 7:30 p.m. The winner will face the victor in the Jac-Cen-Del and Milan matchup on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

Brownstown Central (Sectional 45 at Brownstown Central)

The Lady Braves drew the bye and will play the winner of Switzerland County and Brown County, which will be on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Brownstown will face the winner on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at Brownstown Central High School.

Seymour (Sectional 15 at New Albany)

Seymour drew Floyd Central in the opening round of the sectional at New Albany on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The winner faces Bedford North Lawrence on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Medora (Sectional 62 at Loogootee)

Medora drew North Daviess in the opening round of the Sectional on Thursday at 6 p.m. A win would put the Hornets against Vincennes Rivet on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
