The Indiana Citizen, a non-partisan organization dedicated to increasing civic participation, recently launched a digital advertising campaign aimed at registering and educating young Hoosier voters ahead of the upcoming Nov. 5 general election.

The two-phase campaign by Indianapolis firm Sease Gerig will target more than 700,000 young adults (aged 18-29) across Indiana, according to a news release from the Indiana Citizen. The campaign includes:

Phase 1: Voter Registration Drive

Focus is on encouraging voter registration ahead of the state’s Oct. 7 deadline. The goal is to inspire young Hoosiers to take the first step toward participation by ensuring they are registered to vote.

Phase 2: Voter Education with Virtual Ballot Tool (Oct. 8 – Nov. 5)

Once registered, Phase 2 aims to educate voters with Indiana Citizen’s Virtual Ballot Tool, an easy-to-use online resource that allows voters to familiarize themselves with the candidates and issues on their individual ballots.

“Young voters are crucial to sustaining our democracy, yet they remain underrepresented,” said Bill Moreau, president of the Indiana Citizen Education Foundation and publisher of The Indiana Citizen. “Our campaign not only encourages them to register, but also ensures they have the tools and knowledge to make informed decisions when voting.”

The “My First Time” campaign focuses on use of several online and social channels, including YouTube, Google Search, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat and OTT streaming ads.
