Seymour Common Council meets Monday

The Seymour Common Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the council chambers at city hall, 301-309 N. Chestnut St.

The agenda includes reports from committees, boards and commissions and a public hearing on the appropriation and tax rates of the 2025 fiscal year.

Old business includes second reading of an ordinance establishing the estimated 2025 budget for Seymour Municipal Airport Authority. The estimated general fund budget is $1,130,862 or $107,493 more than this year’s budget. The largest increases in the proposed 2025 budget include $75,000 for capital outlays and $22,993 for personal services.

Other old business includes amending chapters of city code regarding the installation of four-way stops at Chestnut and Bruce streets, Poplar and Oak streets, Ewing and Fourth streets and Fourth and O’Brien streets.

Ordinances to be introduced include amending chapters of city code regarding stormwater management and construction site regulations, appropriates and tax rates, establishing salaries of appointed officials and employees, setting salaries of elected officials, city code regarding taxicabs and city policies.

The proposed salary for the mayor is $88,129, $61,171 of that will come from the general fund. For the clerk-treasurer a proposed salary of $71,587, $31,870 of that will come from the general fund and the total proposed salaries for City Council members is $49,828. The remainder of mayor and clerk-treasurer salaries will come from the Seymour Municipal Sanitation Utility and longevity.
