SEYMOUR

Kathleen Terkhorn, age 91, of Seymour, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, September 5, 2024, at Hoosier Christian Village, Brownstown, with her loving family by her side after a brief stay.

Kathleen and her husband, Victor, were members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers. In 2000, she and her husband transferred to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, where they faithfully attended services. Kathleen was actively involved with the church’s youth group and took great pleasure in helping the youth prepare meals in the kitchen at the church for Advent and Lent services. She had a strong faith and took pride in raising her family in the Lutheran church.

Kathleen was employed at Farm Bureau Co-op before spending 25 years at Welmer Jewelry store, where she was employed until her retirement. Later, she enjoyed visiting and helping at Brownstown Greenhouse during the holidays.

Kathleen deeply loved and cherished her family, and in return, she was adored beyond measure by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted supporter of her family’s church and school events, especially always engaged in the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kathleen never met a stranger, as she always had a kind word to say. She was a friend to everyone she encountered and was always willing to lend a hand in times of need. She was a source of joy and always had a bright outlook on life.

One of the great joys of Kathleen’s life was maintaining her immaculate yard. Anyone who knew her was aware of her love for mowing. She could often be found several times a week on her John Deere lawn mower, tending to her yard, which was a source of pride for her. She also enjoyed crocheting and researching the history of the Sauers community. Kathleen was a passionate supporter of Brownstown Central athletics, loved watching Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, as well as college basketball games. Additionally, she found joy in watching old television game shows and westerns on the Grit channel.

Born on October 27, 1932, in Jackson County, Kathleen was the daughter of Ralph Lawrence and Josie Irene (Goss) Rucker, both of whom preceded her in death. On July 15, 1950, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, she married Victor William Terkhorn, and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2016.
