The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s will return to Columbus on Sept. 15 — one of hundreds planned around the country as the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Columbus will take place at Mill Race Park Amphitheater. The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. with an opening ceremony at 1:15 p.m. followed by a walk on a one-mile route.

Anyone interested in joining the fight to end Alzheimer’s can register for the event online or get more information at alz.org/Indiana/walk. Local organizers hope the Columbus walk will raise $60,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.

Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease — a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In Indiana, there are more than 121,300 people living with the disease and 216,000 caregivers.
