The Jackson County Public Library and the Jackson County Clerk’s office are partnering for National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 17.

Jackson County Clerk Piper Shoemaker will be available to assist people with registration or to answer questions about current registration status from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Jackson County Public Library lobby in Seymour, 303 W. Second St.

To register, people must be U.S. citizens, present a driver’s license or state ID card and be 18 by the General Election on Nov. 5. Registration forms are available at all Jackson County Public Library locations or on the library website myjclibrary.org/vote/.

Started in 2012 for the presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right — the right to vote. Americans can register at hundreds of events across the nation and online at www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org, which is a non-partisan group website. Online registration also is available at indianavoters.in.gov/.
