Volleyball

Trinity Lutheran

The Cougars battled Loogootee on Tuesday evening at Trinity High School. The team swept the opposition 25-9, 25-16, and 25-9 to improve to 8-5 on the 2024 season.

Carson Bowling and Madison Keith led the team in kills with 10 a piece. Ava Blomenberg had 7 kills in the winning effort for the team. Presley Meyer led the girls’ in aces with four of them.

Trinity’s JV team won their match 25-22, and 25-5. The team competes at the 9th Annual Shondell Family Invitational at Burris Laboratory School on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Owls faced off with Floyd Central in a Hoosier Hills Conference matchup on Tuesday evening. After a hard-fought battle, Seymour fell to the Highlanders in four sets, 20-25, 25-22, 18-25, and 14-25.

Next up for the team is Jennings County, who they face Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Boys’ Soccer

Seymour

The Owls got a conference win over Jeffersonville on the soccer field Tuesday. Seymour improved to 4-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference.

Bartolome Sebastian scored both goals for the Owls, once in the 26th minute and the game-winner in the 62nd minute of play. Lance Hubbard locked down the goal for Seymour, racking up six saves in the winning effort.

The Owls go to Columbus East for a game Thursday in the ‘O’ Cup, beginning at 7 p.m.

Boys Tennis

Seymour

The Owls secured another victory on Tuesday, defeating the Jeffersonville Red Devils 3-2 on the tennis courts. Seymour won the third singles match, along with both doubles contests to secure a win.

Seymour hosts Bedford North Lawrence for a match on Thursday at 5 p.m.

The Cougars took care of business on Tuesday against Clarksville, defeating the Generals 4-1 to get back to a .500 team record this season.

Trinity is now 3-3 after the win, behind a win at one and two singles and one doubles victory. Nathan Finke and Jonathan Neawedde swept the one doubles match over Drake Rupprecht and Tavien Utera.

Jack Stuckwisch won the first singles match, 6-1, and 6-0. Reed Roeder won the second singles match, 3-6, 6-4, and 6-4.

Girls Golf

Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves grabbed another win in a quad meet with Eastern (Pekin), Paoli, and Salem on Tuesday night. The meeting took place at Western Hills Golf Course, as Brownstown recorded a team score of 228.

Khloe Lingenfelter scored a 51 for the low score. Mairi Shaw and Kayleigh Jernigan both had 58’s, while Claire Brelage and Kinsley Schroeder recorded 61’s. Brownstown is 8-1 this season in dual meets.

The team goes to Stone Crest Golf Course on Thursday for a match at 5 p.m.

The Lady Owls competed at Otis Park Golf Course on Tuesday against Bedford North Lawrence and West Washington, finishing second with a team score of 203. Bedford won the meet with a score of 168.

Katie Cottrill led the way for Seymour with a 46, followed by Shana Spray who recorded a 51. Caroline Dennis and Emmy Followell both scored 53. Emily Windley carded a 54.

Trinity Lutheran’s Jennifer Jones recorded a 64 in her 9-holes of work.
