SEYMOUR

Sarah Ann Shade, age 82, of Seymour, formerly of Brownsburg, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by her family.

Sarah was part of the Immanuel Lutheran School class of 1955 and went on to graduate from Shields High School in 1959.

Mrs. Shade was a dedicated member of Cornerstone Lutheran Church in Eagle Creek, Brownsburg, for 14 years.

Over her 37 career at Brownsburg Community Schools, Sarah held numerous positions culminating in her role as Deputy Treasurer.

Mrs. Shade held her family close to her heart, who loved her dearly.

Born on December 14, 1941, in Seymour, Sarah was the daughter of Henry Jr. and Bertha (Goecker) Krumme, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Richard Kenneth Shade on August 7, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.

Survivors include two sons: Scott (Jennifer) Shade of Brownstown, and Matt (Heidi) Shade of Monclova, Ohio; four grandchildren: Abbigail (Marty) Young, Jacoby (Brooke) Shade, Holly (Cornelius) Smal, and Cory Shade; four great-grandchildren: Shade Young, Pace Young, Hendrix Shade, and Jamie Shade; one sister: Janet Vanliew of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

Sarah was also preceded in death by her sisters: Melba Stafford, and Edith Pomeroy.

Funeral services for Sarah Ann Shade will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, with Pastor Jeffrey Stuckwisch, officiating. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 6, 2024, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc.

Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour.

Memorials may be given to Hoosier Christan Village, Auxiliary.
