Ivy Tech Community College and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management will host a free Hoosier Riverwatch workshop from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 7, starting at Ivy Tech’s Moravec Hall, 4475 Central Ave.

The workshop is open to the public. Participants must be 18 or older.

Hoosier Riverwatch is an IDEM program that certifies citizens of Indiana in becoming active stewards of the state’s water resources through watershed education, water monitoring and clean-up activities. Certified individuals can collect water quality data and submit it to a state database for water chemistry and insect community analysis.

The workshop will begin with a morning classroom session. Participants should bring their own lunches. After lunch, participants will conduct a practice collection on the Flatrock River at Owen’s Bend Park. Participants must provide their own transportation. Water boots will be supplied if needed.

RSVPs are required and the number of participants is limited. To RSVP or for information, contact Tom Sobat at [email protected].
