Brownstown Central

The Lady Braves opened their volleyball season on the road against Eastern (Pekin), ending the match in three sets, 25-9, 25-14, and 25-20.

Sophie Wischmeier and Kinzee Dean recorded double-digit kills. Wischmeier had 15 and Dean recorded 13 kills in the dominant win.

The team recorded 45 kills and 8 aces. Jaydynn Yeadon went 19-20 in serving, recording 3 aces for the team.

Brownstown Central will host Bloomington North tonight at 7 p.m. Then travel to Providence for a game next Tuesday at the same time.

The Braves pulled out their first win of the season against the Jennings County Panthers on Tuesday. Brownstown swept the doubles matches to secure the 3-2 win, improving to 1-1 on the year.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Pierson Wheeler and Lane Steward defeated Cole Skinner and Brady Sentz, 6-2, 6-2. The second team of Max Peters and Jace Reaser defeated Asher Morin and Nolan Sochacki, 2-6, 7-5, 6-2.

Brownstown’s Brady Davis won his No. 3 singles match over Ty Zohrlant, 7-5, 6-4. The Panthers won the No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles matches.

The Braves will host North Harrison tonight at 5 p.m.

Seymour

The Owls faced off with Bloomington North on Tuesday evening, defeating the Cougars 3-2 for the first win of the new season.

Seymour No. 1 Parker Thompson defeated Ben Konisky, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. No. 2 Carter Stein also picked up a win, 6-4, 6-4. The Owls No. 1 doubles team Shun Takeuchi and Joel Stevens picked up the third win of the night over Hersh Patel and Ramsey Mills, 6-1, 6-0.

The team will host Providence tonight at 5:30 p.m. Seymour will travel to Scottsburg on Friday, before hosting Brownstown Central at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
