After an executive session Monday afternoon to discuss personnel, the Jackson County Public Library board of trustees received the preliminary 2025 operating fund budget numbers during their regular public meeting at the Crothersville Public Library, 120 E. Main St.

The proposed budget is available to the public on the Indiana Gateway at gateway.ifionline. org/. A public hearing for the budget is set for 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St. Adoption of the budget is set for Oct. 21 during the board’s regular monthly meeting at the Seymour Library.

Board member Bonnye Good gave a report on the Indiana State Library’s Public Library Definition Committee on which she serves. Good encouraged other board members to continue to advocate for the library in the community.

During the meeting, the board approved a change to the purchasing policy reflecting current staff positions, were told the Seymour Library will close on Nov. 23 for an Evergreen Indiana upgrade and received a progress report on the library’s strategic plan.
