The Indiana Arts Commission recently awarded $4,000 to the Jackson County Public Library for The Painted Story of Our Community project through the Arts Project Support grant program.
The library is taking applications for Jackson County artists and ideas from the community for painting the windows at the Seymour, Crothersville and Medora libraries on a quarterly basis through June 2025.
The library wants to connect the community by sharing each other’s stories through art, which is the 2025 Summer Learning Program theme “Color Our World.”
These painted stories will reflect the life, culture, and experiences of people in each community and will be displayed on the windows at the libraries each season through June 2025. An album of all paintings will be created on the library’s Facebook page for viewing.
Local artists age 14 and older and interested to be one of the $250 stipend paid artists, may top by a library or read more information and fill out the form online: forms.gle/cH8xbauNDCnmEwCm6.
Jackson County residents who would like to share their story or other ideas for the windows also may stop at their nearest library or read information and fill out the form online: forms.gle/1AYB6pJYmMJ3Ng1s8.
Activities are made possible in part by the Columbus Area Arts Council, and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
