Dena Jane Moore, 80, passed away at Schneck Medical Center on Monday, August 12, 2024, after a brief illness. Born August 16, 1943, in Seymour, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late J. Robert Klein and Carol Dena (Miller) Klein.

Dena graduated in 1961 from Seymour High School and was a member of Rainbow International for Girls. She then went to Evansville College for three years, where she was in Angel Flight. She also took a couple classes at Indiana University. She started working for the phone company in1973 which switched ownership over the years, starting out as Indiana Phone Co., Contel, Verizon, then becoming GTE. She retired from GTE in 2003, having worked for 30 years. In addition to work, Dena was very involved in her First United Methodist Church. She was Lay Leader for First UMC, Lay Member to Indiana Annual Conference, Mission Team, President of United Methodist Women, Prayer Emphasis Group, Children’s Church Assistant, Nursery Assistant, Promoter of Church Summer Camp, and Leader of Breakthrough Prayer Team. She was always willing to lead or help where she could. She had a deep love of Jesus Christ and wanted to share it everywhere.

Dena and her husband John enjoyed their home in Niceville, Florida during the winter, and during the rest of the year they split their time between Florida and Indiana. Wanting their children and grandchildren to experience it too, they invited them to Florida. They enjoyed having other family and friends come down to visit them in Florida. Dena was married from 1965 to 1973, and from that marriage had two children. On November 24,1982 she married her true love, John L. Moore, in Seymour.

Dena is survived by her children, Carolyn (Kevin) Vonderwell and Jason Cobble; stepchildren, Amy (John) Napariu, and Jonathon (Tracie) Moore; grandchildren, Stephanie Burton, D. Mitchell Cobble, John Burton, Logan (Dominique) Moore, Zachary Moore, Skylar Moore, Jacob Moore, Maxwell Vonderwell, Noah Vonderwell, Charles Moore, Alivia Moore, Emily Ritchie, and Jake Ritchie; great grandson; Darnell (DJ) Moore Jr.; daughter in law, Kelli Moore; and her brother, John (Gina) Klein.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John L. Moore; her parents, listed above; sister, Connie Lou; and step-sons Daniel Moore and Jason Moore.

Funeral services for Dena will be held Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Voss and Sons Funeral Home, 316 North Chestnut Street, Seymour. Reverend Teresa Poole of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends and family may call at the funeral home Monday, August 19, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Dena will be laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery immediately following the service.
