The Jackson County Plan Commission is scheduled to review two requests for vacations of streets/alleys and a third to allow for construction of a pullet house during a meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Jackson County Courthouse.

Richard T. Moyers, 4414 W. Second St., Freetown, is asking the county to vacate all of Second Street lying east of a 12-foot alley, south of Lot 5A in Block K of the Isaac Smith addition to the town of Freeport and north of Lot 8 in Block J of the Isaac Smith addition.

In his petition, Moyers said Second Street ends at his east property line and he is having issues with public driving to the dead end and turning around in the lawn/adjoining field. He also said the portion of Second Street described in his petition is not on the county highway department’s road/street inventory.

The Harold L. Goecker Trust, 2021 S. County Road 750E, Seymour, has submitted a petition to vacate Cross Street in the town of Dudleytown along with a 12-foot alley running north and south from the south lines of lots 2 and 3 and a 12-foot alley running east and west between lots 10 and 11 and lots 14 and 15.

According to the petition, the applicant is petitioning to vacate the street and alleys to clean up encroachments that have been constructed in platted public ways over the years. The application also states that none of the public ways have been improved and there is no evidence they ever physically existed.

Rose Acre Farms Inc., 1657 W. Tipton St., Seymour, is petitioning for an 80-by-505-foot pullet house to an existing confine feeding operation that consists of three pullet houses at 6161 N. County Road 225E, Seymour. A pullet house is used to raise chicks from hatching until they are ready to produce eggs.
