Seymour school board meets tonight

The Seymour Community School Corp. board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Seymour Central Service Center, 1420 Corporate Way.

The meeting will include an additional appropriation hearing, the consent agenda, communications and recognitions, donations and grants and updates on construction projects.

Mike Ahlbrand, director of special education, is requesting permission to apply for the IDEA FY 2025 Part B Special Education grants. The grants will be used to help meet the needs of special education students through offsetting costs.

Seymour High School Principal Steve Bush is requesting the board accepts donations of tools for the Industrial Arts program and an Attack Volleyball Serving Machine.

Jeanna Eppley is requesting the board accepts a $1,000 grant from Premier Ag Companies, a $2,520 donation to the Kenneth Kendall Memorial and a $557 donation from Boknecht Trucking.

Joy Stuckwisch is requesting the board accepts a donation of a forklift with the Seymour logo on it for use at the Ag Science Building from Toyota Manufacturing Corp.

Action items include an agreement with Southern Indiana Sports Mall for use of facilities and equipment, approval of corporation insurance and approval of a bus auction.

First read items include school improvement plans, teacher evaluation plan, a NEOLA policy update and SHS change in programming on October 9.

The school board will also discuss the 2025 budget including the education and operation funds. Permission to advertise 2025 school budget plans including a hearing at 7 p.m. September 24 and an adoption of the budget at 7 p.m. October 8 will be proposed.
