BROWNSTOWN — Dozens of 4-H’ers graced the pavillion stage at the Jackson County Fairgrounds Tuesday morning for the 4-H Fashion Revue.

“Jeanie Schneider and the crew always do such a great job at getting it organized,” said Megan VonDielingen, who was named champion model and champion construction in the senior suits and coats category. “Throughout my ten years I have made many different projects for 4-H and now enjoy sewing for other family members and just for fun. Every summer I love being able to see the finished results of my project.”

The revue kicked off with the consumer clothing category in beginner (grades 3-5), intermediate (6-8) and advanced (9-12) divisions.

Katherine Rozhon — champion model and champion consumer notebook in the beginner division — wore a blue cotton polyester blouse and cotton-linen floral pants which she accessorized with a pair of white sandals, a gold necklace and earrings. Rozhon said when she is not working with her goats, she enjoys shopping.

In the intermediate division, the judges named Ella Blomenburg champion model and Emma Doriot champion notebook.

Blomenburg wore 100% cotton jean shorts and a white shirt, completing her look with Birkenstock sandals and a Kendra Scott necklace. Doriot purchased a cream-colored sweater, a pink skirt and a matching pink camisole from Francesca’s for her project. She also wore off-white tennis shoes and jewelry. Doriot said she likes her outfit because — beyond being fashionable — it fits her well and is appropriate for school, church and special occasions.

In the advanced division, the judges awarded champion model and reserve champion notebook to Kelsey Schneider, while Ava Blomenburg was named champion notebook and Gillian Bumbleberg was named reserve champion model.

Blomenburg wore a purple mini-dress and chose to accent her dress with golden earrings, a Kendra Scott necklace, bracelets and sandals. Bumbleberg bought her outfit — consisting of a sequined purple semi-formal dress, boa-leather white boots, dangling earrings and friendship bracelets — to wear to Taylor Swift’s upcoming Eras Tour stop in Indianapolis. Schneider purchased a two-toned black-and-white jumpsuit made of recycled material and added silver earrings, a silver bracelet and black and silver sandals.

The champions of the beginner, intermediate and advanced divisions took to the stage again for the judges to name grand champions. Bumbleberg was named reserve grand champion model, Schneider was named grand champion model and reserve grand champion notebook, and Blomenberg was named grand champion notebook.

The next category up was non-wearable projects. The judges named Addy Schile grand champion non-wearable for a colorful rug she sewed.

The show continued with the junior sewing fashion revue. Evelyn Parmley — junior champion model and junior champion in construction in her grade — sewed a skirt using hot pink fabric and paired it with a jean jacket, a white shirt and white leather sneakers. The judges named Olivia Hoevener junior grand champion in construction for her sun-dress made out of patchwork cotton material.

The final section of the show was the senior sewing fashion revue. Presley Hampton was named senior grand champion model and Kelsey Schneider was named senior grand champion in construction. Schneider was awarded a sewing machine in honor of Marie Burgess. A 4-H participant may only win one sewing machine in their 4-H career.

For the formal dress category, Hampton designed an elegant black gown with a neckline serving as a nod to to the old Hollywood style of Grace Kelly. Schneider’s outfits included a sweatpant suit made out of 95% spandex and 5% polyester material with a gold-ribbon trim, and a costume inspired by Cruella de Vil.

Ben Klosterman, Brynn Burton, Anna Obermeyer and Emma Lucas were crowned as 2024 4-H royalty at the end of the revue.
