Seymour Museum Center closed for renovations ahead of gala

Seymour Museum Center will be closed for further renovation beginning today through Aug. 24, the day of this year’s School Dayz School Dayz Reunion Gala.

That event will begin at 7 p.m. with the unveiling of a 1914 Model T Ford donated by Fred and Karen Pollert to enhance the transportation and communication emphasis through the Welsh Telephone collection, railroad history and other industrial and historic Seymour collections.

“The museum board is looking forward to sharing the continuing improvements being completed as they work to secure funding and community support for this new and welcoming addition to downtown,” board President Len Hauersperger said in a news release. “We have hosted school tours and community groups to share the work to date, but this year’s gala will give us one more way of showcasing the support and caring of our community.”

Sponsorships for the evening are available and include the following options. These ads will be included in the program for the evening and will showcase the supporters of the museum.

a. $5,000 — 1-page ad, 16 tickets

b. $2,500 — 4,999 ½-page ad, 8 tickets

c. $1,000 — $2,499 ¼-page ad, 4 tickets

d. $500 — $999 ¼-page ad, 2 tickets

e. $250 — $499 ⅛-page ad, 2 seats

Tickets are available at Artistic Impressions on the corner of Second and Chestnut streets and at the Jackson County Visitor Center, 100 N. Broadway St. Tickets are $100 or $175 for 2.

Exterior work continues with funds from the Seymour Redevelopment Commission for tuckpointing and final restoration of windows and trim. And interior work continues with final lighting for the large exhibition hall and other finishing touches.
