SEYMOUR

Kenneth L. Kendall, age 66, of Seymour, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, July 8, 2024, at The Lutheran Community Home, Seymour.

Mr. Kendall was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville, where he was baptized in Christ on November 14, 1957, and confirmed in faith on April 12, 1981.

It is a life celebration, as Kenny enjoyed every aspect of life and in many ways poured out his unconditional love to his family, friends, and community.

In his younger years, he loved to camp and ride motorcycles with the neighborhood boys. During his school years, he was a great basketball player, and he played on school teams and church teams. This passion took a back seat when he was able to enter the Ag program at Seymour High School with Nelson Lewis. His true love was farming. He became a dedicated, lifetime farmer, and his farm was his pride and joy. His wife and children worked alongside him. He often said he learned everything he knew from his Grandpa Kendall, Grandpa Rumph, and a couple local farmers he worked for as a teen, as they were the experts in their field.

Kenny treasured his family, and he loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren, unless there was farming to do. He enjoyed talking on the phone and keeping in touch. He rescued many people during the flood of 2008 with his tractor.

He surrounded his family with unwavering faith, believing in hope when times were tough and the weather unbearable. He loved watching I.U. basketball, wrestling, and attending the Jackson County Fair. He also hunted and collected arrowheads.

He was a Dekalb and Stewart seed salesman for several years and most recently was a Beck’s Dealer for 25 years. He received many awards during his years with Beck’s and loved working with customers, who were also his many friends. Kenny was also a member of Jackson County Pork Producers for many years. He received an Honorary Chapter FFA Degree with the Seymour chapter.

Born on October 1, 1957, in Seymour, Kenny was the son of Jack and Marilyn (Rumph) Kendall. His father preceded him in death, and his mother survives in Seymour. He married the love of his life, Linda Marshall, on July 16, 1978, at Peter’s Switch Nazarene Church, and she survives in Seymour.

Survivors also include three daughters: Aimee (Tyler) Nichalson of Seymour, Laura (Tyler) Collings of Seymour, and Janel (Corey) McNew of Seymour; one brother, Donnie (Kelly) Kendall of Brownstown; one sister, Sandy Padron of Seymour; three grandchildren: Kasen Nichalson of Seymour, Braxton McNew of Seymour, and Emerson McNew of Seymour; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenny was also preceded in death by a son, Erich Kendall.
