A 38-year-old Jackson County woman faces felony drug charges after an investigation of several months into her activity, police report.

Ashley Francis of Seymour was arrested Friday afternoon and booked into the Jackson County Jail in Brownstown at 1:50 p.m. on preliminary charges of dealing cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, maintaining a common nuisance (Legend Drugs) and deception (Legend Drugs).

According to news release from Sheriff Rick Meyer, county officers have been making undercover buys of fentanyl from Francia for several months.

On Friday, officers Justin Amos and Aaron Wilkins along with Chief Deputy Dustin Steward went to an address on Mill Street in Cortland to speak with Francia. When police arrived, they were given consent to search the residence by Francia, Meyer said.

During that search, police reported finding paraphernalia, marijuana and prescription pills belonging to people who didn’t live there.

Francia’s arrest was the result of the work of county officers assisted by other local police departments and federal agencies to get drugs and drug dealers off the streets, Meyer said.
