Library offers adult and teen programs in July

The Jackson County Public Library invites the public to celebrate the summer learning program theme “Adventure Begins at Your Library” with a program, “Mush!,” for all ages at 5 p.m. Monday at the Seymour Library, 303 W. Second St.

No registration is required for this free program sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Karen Land, a writer, public speaker and three-time participant in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race, along with her Alaskan husky, Noggin, will present on their adventures during the race that spans 1,049 miles across Alaska. Attendees can expect to hear about the challenges and triumphs of this grueling race and learn more about the unique bond between Karen and her loyal companion.

The Seymour Library’s True Crime Club for adults July 8 is full, but a few more interested adults ages 18 and older can join the waitlist by July 3. There also is a waitlist for an Adventure Activity Jar adult craft at 5 p.m. July 17. Interested adults can join the waiting list until July 15.

The library also is offering free “Bucket List Journals” programs for teens in grades 6-12 at the Seymour, Crothersville and Medora libraries:

Seymour is at 4:30 p.m. July 16 with registration required by July 12.

Crothersville is at 4:30 p.m. July 17 with registration required by July 15.

Medora is at 4:30 p.m. July 18, with registration required by July 16.

Teens in grades 6-12 also can sign up for a Mystery Adventure Lock-In, 5:30 to 8 p.m. July 12, at the Seymour Library. The program is limited to 20 teens who will see what it takes to solve a mystery. All teens must have a signed permission slip from the teen desk to attend, with the slip turned in to the Teen Desk by July 10.
