The 19th annual Cars and Guitars Inc. cruise-in and concert is set for Saturday in the streets of downtown Seymour.

Due to the excessive heat, the 5 p.m. concert performance of Tyler Christopher — an Elvis tribute artist — has been moved to the Knights of Columbus at 117 E. Second St. The Seymour Community Center at 107 S. Chestnut St. will serve as a cooling center. Nearly 100 people have pre-registered to display vehicles. Cars will begin parking at noon.

The Seymour Museum Center at Third and Chestnut streets will be open from noon until 4 p.m. Saturday. “Auto Indiana,” a traveling exhibit from the Indiana Historical Society possible by Kroger, will be available for viewing.

Visitors will take a ride through Indiana’s rich automotive past as they discover the Hoosier State’s contributions. From inventors and innovators such as Elwood Haynes and Ralph Teetor to automakers Studebaker and Duesenberg, Indiana has left an indelible mark on the industry for more than a century – and vice versa.

The exhibit illuminates ties between the automobiles and the development of many other economic opportunities for the “Crossroads of America,” such as the iron, steel and glass businesses. It also explores how the automobile became part of the American dream and popular culture from movies to making personal memories.

Guests also may gaze down the road ahead for Hoosiers, from environmental impact of automobiles to a look at manufacturing today. Other local exhibits include artifacts from the Ulrey Racing Family, Time Turners and a 1914 Model T donated by Fred and Karen Pollert. Admission is free.
